What is a "Golfari"?

Golfari is a Pine Needles trademarked name for five days of golf saturation which Peggy Kirk Bell conducts throughout the year at her resort, Pine Needles. A takeoff on the word "safari," it represents "an expedition to Pine Needles for golfers to have fun while learning to improve their golf games."
Started in 1969, the idea caught on so well that over twelve thousand golfers have since participated in Peggy Kirk Bell's Pine Needles "Golfaris." We hope you'll be joining us this for a fun-filled learning experience.

Tips About the "Golfari."

 CLOTHING...Dress for the Golfari during the day should be casual, as well as comfortable for the golfer. Ladies may wear slacks or shorts. For dinner, no shorts please. Jackets are required for dinner (no tie necessary).

GOLF CLUBS...Bring a full set or all the clubs that you have. You will have lessons on Driving, Fairway Woods, Long Irons, Short Irons, Pitching, Sand, Chipping, Putting and Uneven Trouble lies. Our Golf Shop has rental clubs if you do not have your own set. Please call our Golf Shop before you arrive at 1-800-747-7272 to reserve a set.

GOLF SHOES...Pine Needles is a non-metal spike facility.  Any soft soled shoes may be worn on the golf course.  A change-out station is available in our golf shop for conversion to plastic spikes. GENERAL INFORMATION...Golf is included on your day of arrival and day of departure. THE PINEHURST AREA...Pine Needles is nestled in the heart of the Sandhills of North Carolina. The Pinehurst area is rich in history and is proud to be "The Golf Capital of the World." Close to Pine Needles are the historic villages of Southern Pines, and Pinehurst. The area has several other attractions, including scenic horse farms, Weymouth Woods and several historic sites.

TRANSPORTATION...Pine Needles offers complimentary pick up and delivery if using the local airport. USAir serves our area airport, Pinehurst/Southern Pines. Please call your travel agent for excursion rates. We strongly encourage use of the local airport.
